The case involved a request for eviction of an absent tenant and claims for outstanding rent, utility bills and landlord's costs in advertising in the papers notification of proceedings, as the landlord did not have a fixed address for the client.

Background

At the first court hearing inthis case which was held on 11/12/2011 the appellant (the landlord) attended the hearing but the respondent (the tenant) failed to attend or send a representative. The landlord requested court hear the case in the absence of the tenant because the landlord did not have a fixed address for the tenant. The court decided to make an announcement in the newspaper to notify the tenant; however, he failed to attend the other hearing and as such the court decided to hear the case in his absence.
