SBG 588/2015
This case involved whether the board of grievances' courts had jurisdiction in a case involving attempted bribery of a court official when the bribe had been offered but not taken.
Background
A general prosecutor said that he had confiscated a document which included an agreement between an employee of the court and the defendants which provided that the court employee obtained an ownership deed for a farm for the defendants for 200,000 Riyals.
The agreement was witnessed by five witnesses who were questioned and admitted that the claim of the general prosecution was correct. The investigation led to accusing the defendants of offering a bribe and accusing the court court employee of accepting the accusation which was criminalised according to the Sharia law and punished by the provisions of Article 1 of Saudi Arabia Cabinet Decision No. 175/1412 .
The general prosecutor requested that the court charge the defendants and sentence them to prison according to Article ).
The employee said that the had changed his mind about the agreement with the defendants and that Allah was his witness to this and he said he could provide witnesses.
