This case involved whether it was possible to terminate a fixed term employment contract before the end of that fixed term.
Background
By contract in writing made between the parties on 14 December 2020 it was agreed that the Claimant would be employed by the Defendant on certain terms and conditions as a Production Project Realisation Manager. The Contract was expressly made subject to the QFC Employment Regulations, as from time to time amended, reenacted or consolidated. 3 2. Clause 1 of the Contract provided: "1.1 Employee’s period of service in Qatar is for a fixed term and will commence on the 7 November 2020 and terminate on the 31 of March 2023 unless otherwise agreed in writing between the Parties….. 1.2 Either Party may terminate this Agreement at any time giving the other Party a written notice, in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Regulations."
