KCC 949/2020

Background

Two claimants filed a case against a company before the court. They requested the court to renew a legal service contract signed between the two parties according to Articles 5 and 196 of Kuwait Decree-Law No. 67/1980 . They requested the court to also order the company to pay legal expenses of 15,000 Dinars. They said that they had agreed that their legal office would provide legal consulting services to the company for 15,000 Dinars. They said that the two parties had agreed that half of the amount should be paid in advance while the second half should be paid six months after the signing of the contract. They said that the two parties had agreed that the contract should be automatically renewed unless notice was given otherwise by any of the parties sixty days before the termination of the contract. They said that the company had given the notice one day before the termination of the contract.

The court ruled that the company should pay the claimants 7,500 Dinars.
