Background
The office of public prosecution accused a defendant of killing. The office requested the court to penalize the defendant according to the relevant laws.
The victim’s mother filed a case against the defendant before the court. She requested the court to order the defendant to pay temporary compensation of 5001 Dinars.
The court issued a death sentence against the defendant. The court referred the civil case to the relevant court.
The defendant appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court amended the appealed ruling and issued a life sentence against the defendant.
The defendant and the office of public prosecution appealed the ruling before the court of cassation.
The defendant said in his grounds of appeal that the ruling had violated the right of defence. He said that he had denied the accusation made against him but the court had dismissed his defence.
The court said that this argument was invalid. The court said that the defence made by the defendant was irrelevant.
The court dismissed the appeal.
