KCC 39/2003

This case involved a claim by heirs of a man who had died in a workplace accident for blood money against the heirs of his former employer. It had been wrongly argued the statute of limitations did not apply even though it was over a year since the termination of the employment contract because the heirs were based in Bangladesh.

Background

The heirs of an employee filed a case against the heirs of an employer and requested the court order them to pay 10000 Dinars in blood money. They stated their father had died while working with their father.

The court ruled that the defendants should pay the heirs 10000 Dinars.

The defendants appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court changed the appealed ruling and ruled the defendants should pay the heirs 10000 Dinars in accordance with the share of each of their inheritance.
