Employee’s Rights – Salary – Employment Contract – Exchange rate
This case involved salary due to employees who it was agreed would be paid in Dollars but had received salary in Egyptian Pounds. The employers could not use a fixed exchange rate to calculate salary when the employment contract stated it should be the rate when the salary fell due.
Background
Some employees filed a case against a company before the court requesting the company to pay each employee $30000. The employees said that they started working with the company and that the company pledged to pay their wages in American Dollars. The employees said from 01/03/1986 the company started to pay 55% of their salaries in Egyptian Pounds.
The court dismissed the case.
The employees appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court upheld the appealed ruling.
