This case involved a claim by the director of an organisation against an employee who had informed the police that he had insulted and threatened her in front of other staff and refused to accept her resignation. The employee filed a subcase for damages as the director had insulted her. The court was wrong to consider the claims of the employee even though these had been recorded in the labour office investigation report when these had not been the basis of the employee's suit before the court of first instance.
Background
The Director of Legal Affairs filed a case before the Court of First Instance against a lawyer requesting compensation as the lawyer had informed the police that a company had refused to accept her resignation and accused the plaintiff of insulting and threatening her in front of employees which constituted defamation.
The lawyer filed a sub case requesting the director pay for damages after he had insulted her.
The court ruled that the lawyer should pay 500 Egyptian Pounds and dismissed the sub case.
