Laboni v Lahit

This case involved an employee who was unable to travel to Dubai from India to start their employment because of COVID 19 so a reduction in wages was agreed until he was able to come to Dubai and he worked remotely. It was agreed he would be paid the full amount when he was in Dubai. Later he was asked to travel to Dubai but then said he wished to work from London where his wife had moved for work. Before coming to Dubai he resigned. Issues included what were his dues including holiday pay, should he be paid for medical insurance which had been promised but not provided because he was not in Dubai. The penalty for late payment of dues on termination was considered.
