Madrid v Maeko
This case involved an employee's claim for an unpaid air ticket allowance and a night shift allowance on leaving a company.
Background
The Claimant was Madrid, an individual filing a claim against the Defendant involving his employment at the Defendant company.
The Defendant was the Maeko a hotel registered and located in the DIFC.
The underlying dispute arose over the employment of the Claimant by the Defendant on 16 December 2018 under an Employment Contract.
On 8 February 2021, the Claimant filed a claim in the DIFC Courts' Small Claims Tribunal seeking flight encashment and an allowance for carrying out night shifts of 2,500 AED.
The Defendant filed their defence with the intention to defend all the claim.
A consultation was held before the SCT Judge but, the parties failed to settle.
The Claimant stated he was employed with the Defendant from 16 December 2018 to 13 January 2021 upon completion of a one-month notice period.
He stated the defendant had failed to pay him 2,500 AED in employment entitlements.
