Background
A Respondent filed a Case No. 239 of 2006 Commercial Full Jurisdiction before the Dubai Court of First Instance against the two Appellant companiesfor a ruling that they be ordered to pay AED 1,253,528 and legal interest, towards the final payment for labour costs for contracting work tthey had carried out on their behalf and at their request. The two Appellant companies raised a plea to dismiss the case based the agreement to arbitrate, and the lack of jurisdiction of theDubai Courts. Then the Respondent establishment amended its reliefs sought requested that an arbitrator be appointed.
