DCC 6/2007

This case involved a claim for dues including flight tickets by an employee who had been unfairly dismissed. The company tried to argue they should not be liable for the flight tickets as the employee had a new employer. The court rejected this argument.

Background

An employee filed a case against a company and requested the court to order the company to pay him 307023 AED and annual interest. The employee stated he had started working with the company on 15/08/2004 but was dismissed from his job without justification. The employee stated the company had refused to pay his dues.

The court ruled the company should pay the employee 217200 AED, annual interest of 9% and the value of flight tickets for the employee and his family.

The company and the employee appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court rejected the two appeals and upheld the ruling.
