Freezone – Employment Case – Litigation Procedure – Dismissal – Unpaid Dues
The original dispute involved a claim for unpaid dues by an employee who had been dismissed. The case was initially rejected because it had not followed the correct legal procedures. This was overturned after it was discovered the employer was based in the freezone and a complaint had been made to the freezone authority.
Background
An employee filed a case against a company and requested the court order the company to pay him 113000 AED. The employee stated that he had worked with the company for seven months and three days but was dismissed from his job. The employee stated the company had refused to pay his dues.
The court ruled that the company should pay the employee 109900 AED and the value of a flight ticket.
The employee and the company appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court rejected the case because it had not been filed in the legal way.
