Equipment – Legal settlement – Debt – Other unsettled dispute – Compensation
The original dispute involved a claim for compensation following the late payment of equipment rental. The key point was that a legal settlement could not be made as there was a further dispute in another as yet unsettled case on this matter.
Background
A woman filed a case against another woman claiming that she had hired equipment to her but the rental payments for it had not been paid on time. She asked the court to force her to pay 1,399,999 Riyals and compensation. After sending an expert to review the case, the court ruled that the latter should pay 1,499,999 Riyals. The woman who had rented the equipment repealed the ruling before the court of appeal (Appeal No: 95/2012). The court decreased the amount of payment to 229,557 Riyals.
