Commerce – Advertising – Company Branch
This case involved a woman who had won a car in a competition. One of the conditions of the competition was that family members of staff at the company who managed the advertising should not be able to enter the condition. The fact the woman's husband worked for a different branch was irrelevant.
Background
A claimant filed a case against two companies before the court requesting the company to grant her a car. The claimant said that the second company had started an advertising campaign under the supervision of the first company in Bahrain. The claimant said that she won a car as a part of the campaign but the company then deprived her from the car based on argument that her husband was working for a company that managed the campaign. The claimant said that her husband worked in the branch of the company in Bahrain and had nothing to do with the branch in Dubai that managed the campaign.
The court dismissed the case.
The claimant appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court upheld the appealed ruling.
