This case involved whether an insurance company which had covered a car insured in Bahrain was liable to pay damages to the heirs of a man killed in an accident in Jordan. Under Jordanian law all those in a private car which caused an accident were not entitled to be paid insurance compensation.
Background
The heirs of a deceased man filed a case against an insurance company before the court requesting the company pay them 50000 Dinars and legal interest. The heirs said that their father had died in a car accident in Jordan and the car was insured by the company at the time of accident.
The court ruled that the company should pay the heirs 5000 Jordanian Dinars and 7% interest.
The heirs and the insurance company appealed the ruling before the court of appeal. The court dismissed the appeal made by the heirs and dismissed the appealed ruling.
