Biography

Charbel M. Maakaron is the managing partner of the Doha office and a member of the firm's Corporate Group. His practice focuses on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, hospitality, and regulatory matters. Cited by Construction Week Online as “one of eight people to know in Qatar,” he has extensive experience advising clients on commercial transactions, corporate structuring, finance and securities, commercial litigation, and capital markets.

With more than a decade working in Qatar, Charbel's experience is highly sought after by clients and peers for his knowledge of Qatari laws. He has been called on to serve as a subject matter expert on Qatari legal issues on numerous occasions. He also advises government clients on legislative projects and has contributed toward the development of laws and regulations in Qatar and neighboring countries.

Charbel also serves as the chairman of the Arbitration Commission at the International Chamber of Commerce, where he works closely with the Paris-based International Secretariat to advance various rules for dispute resolution in coordination with regional and international bodies.

Prior to joining the firm, Charbel was the managing partner at an international law firm’s Doha office. Previously, he worked for one of Beirut’s top law firms, where he handled complex litigation matters in civil and commercial law and gained considerable experience in corporate and business matters.
